July to December 2008 Workshops program

Understanding awards and workplace agreements is a practical workshop designed to provide employers with a general introduction to awards and agreements and the key employment obligations under industrial relations laws, including annual holidays and long service leave. The workshop will explain:

• the purpose, structure and layout of awards
• how to read and find information in awards
• workplace agreements and the types available
• the relationship between awards and 'notional agreements preserving a state award' (NAPSA)
• how to calculate entitlements, such as wages, overtime payments, allowances, sick leave,  annual leave loading and long service leave entitlements
• where to get further information and assistance.
