Pay Equity Inquiry

New Equal Remuneration Principle - 30 June 2000

The NSW Inquiry into Pay Equity is the result of a recommendation from the NSW Pay Equity Taskforce, which was established in 1996 as part of the NSW Government's priority to address inequitable pay and working conditions for women. Its task was to consider the undervaluation of women's skills and methods for addressing pay inequity in NSW. The Committee's recommendations included the need for an Inquiry into work value by the IRC. Subsequently, the Minister for Industrial Relations developed terms of reference for such an Inquiry and referred the Inquiry to the NSW Industrial Relations Commission. The Inquiry was undertaken between December 1997, and July 1998.
