Shops and Industries Regulation 2007

Under the staged repeal program of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1989, the Shops and Industries (Trading) Regulation 2002 lapsed on 1 September 2007. The Shops and Industries Regulation 2007 (pdf - 247Kb), as published in the NSW Government Gazette on 31 August 2007, replaces that former Regulation.

In summary, the new Regulation (without making any substantial alteration from the 2002 Regulation) makes provision in the following areas in ensuring the effective operation of Parts 2 (bank weekend opening) and 4 (shop trading) of the Shops and Industries Act 1962:

·         application fee for weekend opening by banks;

·         classification of trades for particular ('scheduled') shops;

·         classification of 'general shops';

·         applications for exemption from shop trading hours restriction; and

·         partitioning off of goods for sale in mixed shops.
