Know the deal

Workplace rights and entitlements for most workers in NSW are covered by the national workplace system.

The Fair Work Act 2009 and the ten National Employment Standards set out what pay and other entitlements, such as hours of work and paid annual leave you should receive from your employer.

They must pay you, at least, the minimum rate set out in the appropriate award or agreement and any specified allowances or entitlements.

Some NSW laws also to apply to businesses and workers in NSW. These are laws about occupational health and safety, workers compensation, public holidays, long service leave, jury service, trading hours and anti-discrimination.
