Displaying awards in the workplace

Maintaining up-to-date copies with Pay Rate Updates

By law, you are required to have a copy of the relevant award on display in your workplace for your employees' reference. You can now download NSW private sector awards, in full, free of charge.

You can use Pay Rate Updates to keep your award display copy up-to-date by using the following process:

  • When a new Pay Rate Update email arrives notifying you of a variation, use the link to the consolidated award PDF to get to the updated award:
    eg. The award can also be downloaded as a PDF document at the following address.
    http://www.industrialrelations.nsw.gov.au/awards/pdf/Award_0134.pdf
  • When the consolidated award PDF opens:
    • use your Pay Rate Updates email to find the changed clause/s
    • print out the required clauses, each clause is on its own page
    • replace the old page/s in your display copy with this latest version
    • print out the 'Schedule' from the front page of the award as this shows all variations to the award in date order
    • replace the old Schedule in your display copy with the latest version
    • each new page that you print off will have a new date stamp on it,
    • eg. This document was published to Awards Online 23/7/2004, so you will be able to monitor all the changes to your display copy.
  • To keep track of your changes, keep a printout of the Pay Rate Update email and file it with the display award. You can also print out the Award Variation Tracking Sheet (pdf) to store at the front of your display award to track the changes made.
