Industrial Relations Advisory Council
Legislation to establish an Industrial Relations Advisory Council has been enacted by the NSW Parliament.
The Council offers a forum for stakeholders to discuss a range of industrial relations issues affecting NSW. These would include the operation of the national industrial relations system in this state, as well as the ongoing operation of State industrial relations laws.
The Council will have representation from unions, senior public servants, peak employer bodies and legal professional associations.
The Council will provide a forum for members to provide feedback to the Minister about issues impacting on employers and workers in NSW and will also assist the NSW Government to formulate and provide advice about industrial relations policy.
Each Council member will serve for a period of up to three years and the Council will meet at least twice a year.
The Minister for Finance and Services will be Chair of the Council and will appoint non-government members.
The Industrial Relations Advisory Council Act 2010 received Royal Assent on 25 October 2010 and commenced on that day.
